Watch video;Youths In Afforestation kill a gigantic cobra At Barekese
It was a mixed feeling for the Youths In Afforestation beneficiaries who work at the Barekese dam forest feild in the Ashanti region,as they successfully killed a giant Cobra which had put a bunch fears in them.
According to one of the workers,the serpent which was killed was last seen when it was struggling to overpower and swallow a game it had caught.One of them who sighted the action shouted for each and everyone to run for his or her life.The snake upon hearing the loud voice,let go of the animal it was battling to rather chase them out of their feild of work.
Weeks after the incident,the same cobra was spotted having a nap in a shady place along the bank of a river at the workplace.According to reports,one of them by the name Daniel,this time around gathered all the courage he could afford to battle with the deadly animal till he was able to cut off both its head and tail hence taking its life.
The incident which is supposed to be joyous has rather turned a misery because they complain of this not being the first time and after all these dangers they are exposed to,the government has not been paying them their allowances for the past five months.
Myjoyghana in conversation with them found out that, despite all these occupational hazards,the young men and women work under no insurance cover.
Their passionate appeal to the government was to kindly pay them their stipends since they have been working industriously on empty stomach to assure their ambition with dedication to serve the country
